When keyboard player Iain Jennings recorded the first Breathing Space album he enlisted
fellow Mostly Autumn band members Liam Davison, Bryan Josh, Andrew Jennings and Olivia Sparnenn
to play guitars and drums and sing on it. |

| The band went into the studio in 2006. The resulting album mixes soaring guitars, ambient instrumentals, heart-rending ballads and classic rock. It quickly sold out and had to be re-pressed. | ![]() |
In fact there are two versions - it was licenced in America with Distant Train replacing the final track. |

During 2007 Andy, who was by now involved in three bands,
left to pursue other options and was briefly replaced by Olivia's dad Howard
(ex of 70s band Flight) on drums before Barry Cassells joined full time. |

The second album Coming Up For Air was then recorded with the addition of John Hart on saxophone and wind synthesisers, adding extra sonic textures. It was released to critical acclaim. |

The album added rock anthems and a subtle jazziness to the growing and varied repertoire at live performances. The band are now playing to bigger audiences around the country and after their appearance at the 2008 Cambridge Rock Festival its organiser Dave Roberts said "awesome somehow doesn't do the band justice". |

| The third album was recorded in spring 2009 and after a lot of heartfelt discussion the band decided to concentrate on the use of guitars and keyboards. Inevitably this means less opportunities for sax and wind synth solos in the live set. As a result John Hart, who played sax and wind-synth on the Coming Up For Air album and tour left the band. | ![]() |
Mark Rowen, who had toured with the band from the start and who played guitar on the second album decided to leave shortly afterwards, and Liam Davison returned to record guitar on the 3rd album and play live a few times. |

Paul Teasdale, who had been playing bass with the band from the start joined Iain and Livvy to write the Below The Radar album which was launched at the 2009 Cambridge Rock Festival and immediately sold out. By this time Liam (who had other commitments) was replaced on guitar by Bryan Josh who was 'borrowed' to tour with the band whilst a permanent replacement was sought. | ![]() |

This line-up remained in place until 2010 when Olivia and Bryan left to concentrate on Mostly Autumn
following the departure of Heather Findlay as lead vocalist with that band.
Their final gig at The Robin, Bilston, on 4th April 2010, was recorded and, on a zero budget, filmed for posterity. The live CD was released shortly afterwards, with the DVD being released in May 2011. | ![]() |

In July 2010 Heidi Widdop (vocals) and Adam Dawson (guitars) joined Breathing Space
with a wealth of experience of live performing, studio recording and songwriting.
Both had previously played with or supported them.
Their inaugural full gig was at the 2010 Cambridge Rock Festival. However after only two more events and much discussion, Breathing Space decided to disband with members involved in various other projects. |
